Melancthon Man Charged With Impaired And Over 80

Shortly after midnight on Thursday October 20th, Shelburne Police received information about suspicious behavior and driving in a local parking lot.  Shelburne Police attended the parking lot and investigated the vehicle and driver in question.

As part of the investigation, the driver was arrested and police conducted breath tests for alcohol.

The driver provided breath samples indicating that he had more than double the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

As a result, 47 year old Richard Holmes of Melancthon was charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Over 80 Operation of a Motor Vehicle.  The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for 7 days.

The accused has a first appearance court date in early November to answer to the allegations.
