Message from the Chairman of the Shelburne Police Services Board

I am pleased as Chair of the Shelburne Police Services Board to welcome you to the Shelburne Police Service’s website. The site contains many interesting as well as relevant information regarding police services.

Our Board is authorized by the Ontario Police Services Act to ensure adequate and effective police services for the residents of the Town of Shelburne.   Additional Board priorities include policy development regarding effective law enforcement, crime prevention and to oversee the provision of police services in accordance with the principles established in the Police Services Act.

The Board recognizes the challenges to law enforcement created by a changing environment, demographic shifts, emerging technologies, and evolving crime trends and patterns.

The Board is proud of our Police Service and the outstanding job they do in our community. The Board continues to review many notes of thanks from community members who express that our officers go above and beyond the call of duty.

The Board is led by a Chair who is elected annually by the members of the Board. Our Board consists of one Council appointed resident; one member of Council, and one provincially appointed resident.

All members of our Board are dedicated to providing professional overview and policy development to determine objectives, goals and priorities for the delivery of police services in the Town of Shelburne.

I have been impressed by our Police Service’s outstanding reputation at home and within the broader policing community.  I know that this is due, in large part, to the dedicated leadership provided by Chief Kent Moore.

I would like to thank him for all that he does to strengthen and improve policing in our community and beyond.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank all of the uniformed and civilian staff of the Shelburne Police Service.  As members of the police service, these individuals work hard at making our community the safest place in which to live, work and raise a family.  As members of our community, they are leaders, volunteers and role models.  We are all immensely proud of them.

 Len Mikulich
