Between Friday November 25th and Monday November 28th, Shelburne Police received five reports of graffiti and damage throughout town. Homes, garages, and vehicles through various parts of town were spray painted with symbols and phrases. One vehicle was also significantly damaged. The total damage caused by these incidents is expected to be in the thousands of dollars.
Security video evidence was a key factor in identifying one of the suspects. As a result a Shelburne youth was arrested and charged on Monday November 28th with a total of 8 counts of mischief. The charges encompassed the five recent incidents, as well as three from earlier this year. The youth was released on a promise to appear and undertaking with a first appearance court date in mid-December.
Shelburne Police is continuing the investigation to identify a second suspect. As part of this further video evidence is being sought and reviewed.
Police are also appealing the public for any information they may have in regards to these incidents. Shelburne Police wants to hear from anyone who may have even the smallest piece of information. They are encouraged to call the Shelburne Police or report the information through crime stoppers.
