On Thursday September 22nd, a Shelburne Police officer stopped a black Volkswagen Golf for speeding 72kph in a 50kph zone. However the officer noted something even more concerning when he approached the driver in the car. Evidence of drugs inside the car was observed resulting in the driver being arrested.
As a result of the roadside investigation, 34 year old Matthew Shackleton of Calgary was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana under 30g under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act. He was also charged with three Highway Traffic Act charges.
The accused was released at the scene on an appearance notice with a court date in early October to answer to the allegations.
