The Shelburne Police Service regularly monitors traffic light controlled intersections, and numerous drivers are charged or warned in relation to infractions.
However, in response to several recent public complaints in regards to motorists running red and amber lights, the local police service will be holding a week long traffic light enforcement blitz. This traffic light enforcement blitz took place from October 2nd to 8th. During this blitz, officers dedicated daily enforcement at one or more of the four traffic light controlled intersections in town.
Shelburne Police officers dedicated almost 40 hours this past week on this traffic light safety campaign. Enforcement took place every day of the week, both during the daytime and night time hours. Here are the results of the week long traffic light safety campaign:
- 26 Red light and Amber light charges
- 14 Warnings in regards to vehicles moving through these intersections
- 3 Pedestrian warned in regards to crossing at these intersections.
Safety on our roadways is one of Shelburne Police Service’s priorities. Roadway safety is everyone’s responsibility: drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists. Shelburne Police encourages all users of the roadways to put safety first!
