During the evening hours on Thursday October 6th, Shelburne Police launched an investigation in a retail parking lot in response to a citizen phoning police with concerns that a driver was under the influence of alcohol.
The driver of a GMC pickup was investigated and breath demands were made for a roadside breath screening device. The woman did not comply with providing a suitable breath sample and therefore was arrested.
As a result, 49 year old Alexandra Michaels of Mansfield was arrested and charged with Refuse Breath Demand contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. She was later released on an Appearance Notice with a court date in late October to answer to the allegations. Her driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days and her vehicle impounded for 7 days.
